How should I go about permitting my dome?
In regards to building permits and codes for geodesic domes, every state, city and county have their own. It will be your responsibility to contact your local building department and see how they interpret your dome and how the codes apply. The domes are generally known as a “semi-permanent” structure so that will give you flexibility.
Once your 50% custom dome deposit has been placed with us, we are able to provide you with an engineering report, CAD drawings, fire certificates, textile technical data, anchoring instructions/data, and load-bearing information to bring to your local planning department. We can also put you in touch with an engineer who can assist with the permitting process by generating a site-specific report. This is subject to engineer fees.
